Luna and the Lost Pup's Secret

Luna bounded through Starlight Meadow, his black and white fur rippling beneath the constellation-speckled sky. The wildflowers glimmered like tiny stars scattered across the earth, and he couldn't resist spinning in circles, snapping playfully at fireflies.

"Hey there, little glowbugs! Bet you can't catch ME!" He barked cheerfully, his pointed ears swiveling to catch every night sound.

Then he heard it—a whimper, barely audible above the babbling stream.

Luna's alert posture shifted instantly. He trotted toward the sound, nose twitching. Behind a cluster of moonlit daisies, a tiny silver pup trembled, her large eyes reflecting pure terror.

"Whoa there, little one!" Luna dropped to his belly, making himself less intimidating. "Name's Luna. I promise I'm friendlier than I look—which is pretty friendly, if you ask the fireflies!"

The pup pressed herself smaller.

"Okay, okay. How about this—why did the wolf cross the meadow?" He paused dramatically. "To get to the otter side of the stream!" He grinned, his blue almond-shaped eyes twinkling with mischief.

The tiniest whisper emerged: "I... I don't know who I am."

Luna's playful demeanor softened. "That's alright. I'll call you Whisper. How about we figure it out tog—"

A massive shadow stretched across the meadow, blotting out stars. Something enormous moved at the forest's edge, and its growl shook Luna's very bones. Whisper's eyes went wide with recognition and absolute horror.

"RUN!" she squeaked.
