Moss's Dark Room

Moss's Dark Room

Star bounced down the moss-covered path, her rainbow hair flowing behind her. She carried her backpack full of colorful pins and patches. Today she would visit her friend Moss!

Moss opened the door slowly. "Hello, Star," he whispered with his small trembling voice.

Star noticed Moss's big eyes looked tired and worried. "What's wrong?" she asked.

"My room feels too dark," Moss said softly. "Every night, I have bad dreams. The shadows look scary on the stone walls."

Star adjusted her yellow hard hat with the bright star sticker. She pulled out her toy ruler from her tool belt. "Can I see your room?"

Moss led her inside. The bedroom was carved into the mountainside. Dark gray stone covered the walls. The corners felt cold and empty.

Star's purple and blue eyes sparkled. "I can help make it cozy!"

But then the sun set. Moss's room became even darker. Shadows stretched across the floor like reaching fingers. Moss started to cry.
