Grace and the Three Lost Bunnies
The Golden Egg Thief
Easter morning in the valley smelled of sweet bread and crushed mint. Grace knelt in the village square, her lavender tunic sleeves rolled up as she dipped an egg into brilliant blue dye. Her hazel eyes sparkled with anticipation; the Great Spring Hunt was her favorite tradition. Villagers bustled around, hanging pastel ribbons from blooming cherry trees. "Almost ready, little hero?" called Mr. Silas the baker, wiping flour from his bushy mustache with a hearty chuckle. "The children are itching to start!" Grace smiled warmly, her chestnut-brown hair falling past her shoulders as she nodded. "Just finishing the last batch, Mr. Silas!" But as she reached for the drying rack, a rustling sound caught her attention. Three fluffy rabbits—one white, one brown, and one speckled—darted from under the table. The speckled one snatched the prized golden Easter egg in its teeth! Before Grace could shout, the three fluffy rabbits hopped away from the village and straight into the dark, scary Whispering Cave at the edge of the woods. Grace grabbed her flickering yellow flashlight from her belt pouch. Without hesitating, she dashed past the trees and plunged into the damp, shadowy mouth of the cavern, leaving the bright, celebratory morning far behind.
