Sparkle Finds a Book with Missing Pages
The Torn Treasure

Sparkle adjusted her white earbuds as she stepped into the Maplewood Library, the smell of old paper and polished wood filling her nose. Tomorrow was Books Day, and colorful banners celebrating stories hung from every shelf. Mrs. Chen, the librarian, waved from behind her desk where she was arranging special displays.
"Sparkle! Perfect timing," Mrs. Chen said, wringing her hands nervously. "I need your help with something unusual."
On the center table lay a magnificent book bound in deep blue leather with silver stars embossed on the cover. "The Lost Kingdom's Winter Festival," Sparkle read aloud, her blue eyes widening with wonder. She opened it carefully, and her heart sank. Pages 12 through 28 were torn out—jagged edges the only evidence they'd ever existed.
"It's our featured book for tomorrow's celebration," Mrs. Chen whispered. "Children are coming from three towns to hear it read aloud. But now..." She gestured helplessly at the gap.
Sparkle's pouch rustled as she shifted her weight. "Don't worry. I'll figure this out."
